Even though you have to dress for the occasion, winter time still provides plenty of scope for outdoor activities. The right outdoor gear will give you a certain amount of freedom when training or working out, and it’s certainly better than being forced to work out in a tiny apartment.
Go through some of the ideas outlined below for winter training, and see if any of them take your fancy.

Snowshoeing is a low impact activity so it’s suitable for any age group, young or old.
What’s most appealing about snowshoeing for exercise is that it takes a great deal of effort to move your body over all that snow, much more in fact, than running. Also, there is more energy burned because you have to raise your legs much higher than while doing normal walking and running.
If you want to burn up to a massive 900 calories an hour then a walk in the snow is the way to do it. Lots of muscle groups are also given a good workout including your hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves. Your shoulders and arms also get a little bit of the action as well!
In 21 days, you can be beach-ready for a vacation. Look drop-dead great at your upcoming reunion. Or be well on your way-REALLY well on your way-to reaching a major weight-loss goal. And all you have to do is decide. Then let 21 Day Fix do the rest. Click/tap here to find out more on Amazon.com >>
2. Ice Skating
Unlike snowshoeing, ice skating actually takes a bit more of an effort before you will start to achieve any significant calorie burn. A leisurely glide around the rink isn’t going to cut it in this regard.
To increase the burn try alternating speeds. Go as fast as you can for a while and then slow it down until you’re ready to go again. Ice skating is an excellent workout for your abdominal and lower back muscles, as well as your hamstrings and quadriceps.

3. Cross-Country Skiing
If you enjoy pushing your body to its limits then get into some cross-country skiing.
Akin to cross-country marathon running on skis, this particular sport is even more challenging than running, as it is much more difficult to navigate up even a shallow incline. Of course going down is much easier, but you have certainly earned the brief respite.
There is barely a muscle group in your body that won’t receive a good workout while traipsing across the country on a pair of skis, so it is perfect for toning the entire body and burning off massive amounts of calories if that’s your desire. Let’s not forget that it’s also a lot of fun.
This is probably one of the most relaxing versions of outdoor activities for winter, especially if you have kids and resign yourself to dragging them around on the toboggan – It can help you burn some calories in the process!
Not only that, tobogganing makes a good all-round family fun for those days when you need a rest.
5. Snow Tubing
What goes up must come down, and climbing up snowy inclines for the sole purpose of hurtling down them on a snow tube is certainly worth the effort, and will help you get rid of a few excess calories in the process.
The great thing about snow tubing is that it’s something in which the kids can also participate. For a supreme challenge, parents may want to attempt to beat their kids up the hill!
