There are times when our face is a little puffier than we’d like it to be. Perhaps you’re going through pregnancy, or put on a few extra pounds; maybe you just have a round face that makes it appear that you have.

Ok, while not technically a makeup tip, accessories can be used to make your face look longer and thinner. Adding elongating accessories like hanging earrings or long necklace are one such trick – they draw the eye to the vertical, so your face appears slimmer.
Another trick is to increase the height of your hair at the crown – taller hair will make your face look thinner also. Sunglasses on top of your head can have the same effect – it’s the illusion of a longer face which makes it appear more thin.

2. Shape Your Brows Correctly
It’s surprising such a small thing can make such a big difference in how your face is perceived, but by shaping your brows, you can really elongate the appearance of your face.
Be sure not to over-pluck – you want a natural brow, but not too thick. Make sure you have a very defined arch – again, it draws the eye to the vertical. Get a professional shaping so you can see how it should be done if you aren’t sure.
If your brows are light, use a brow pencil a shade darker than your natural color to help enforce the illusion.

3. Define The Jawline
If a double chin is your problem, you can use a powder to define the jaw and camouflage the chin line.
This is easiest to do in a place where you have direct lighting from overhead. Look straight ahead into the mirror without raising your chin. Use a powder that’s a shade or two darker than your normal foundation color, and apply it under the jaw bone using a large brush. It creates a shadow that makes your double chin recede so your face looks thinner.
Make sure you use a matte powder for this, and avoid bronzers, which contain reflective bits that will negate the effect.
4. Wear A Lighter Shade Of Lipstick
Avoid dark reds, and instead go for pale pinks or neutrals.
Dark colors draw attention to the lips, which naturally create a horizontal line on the face, drawing the eye side to side, making the face appear wider. By using a color closer to your natural skin tone, you avoid this illusion.
5. Use An Eyeliner
You can also affect the way your face appears by the use of eye makeup. Using eyeliner to elongate the eyes – the cat eye look – creates width higher on the face, giving you the illusion of a thinner, triangle-shaped face. This is a great trick to use if you have a naturally round face.
If you aren’t a fan of eyeliner, you can achieve the same thing by using a dark eyeshadow and smudging it up and out.
6. Simple Mascara Trick
Simply applying two or three coats of mascara can be all that’s needed to make your face appear narrower. When your eyes are large and striking, they draw attention to the center of the face.
An easy way to achieve this effect is with mascara and an eyelash curler, to make eyes appear as large as possible.
7. Use Blush And Bronzer To Highlight Cheekbones
Everyone wants to have high, angular cheekbones – and you can create them with makeup to make your face look thinner.
Suck in your cheeks and use a large powder brush to apply bronzer into the hollow of the cheek, under the cheekbone. Next, use a rosy shade of blush and apply it to the apple of the cheek.
The darker bronzer creates a shadow under the cheekbone which contrasts with the rosy, sun-kissed look of the blush to create a more angular, thinner appearance.
