There are trends in every area of fashion and beauty and eyebrows are no exception. We can see this trend starting as early as the 1920’s with the straight thin look, then in the 1950’s it was Marilyn Monroe with her contoured arches, which led to the 1980’s with Brooke Shields and her untamed brow look.
Between waxing, tweezing, tattooing, and tinting, we whip our brows into shape but no matter what the trend, all we really want are well-groomed brows with little effort. By following the steps below, you will be able to create well-sculpted and beautiful brows.

Step #1: Assess Your Eyebrow Shape
One of the main tricks to attaining a beautiful brow is to work with the natural shape you already have. In other words, if you have a rounded brow shape, do not try to give yourself an arched look, as this would not be natural for you.

Step #2: Decide Where To Begin
Take an eye pencil (blunt end of course), and put it in the inner corner of your eye straight up to the beginning of the brow. Any hairs outside that line can be removed or left for a more natural look.
Note: If you have close-set eyes, removing all the hairs outside the pencil line will make them appear farther apart and the reverse is true if you have wide-set eyes.

Step #3: Finding Where Your Arch Should Be
Finding where the arch of your brows are is easy by taking an eye pencil and laying it diagonally across your nose to the middle of your pupil (this is where your arch is).
Also, once you know where your arch is, you will also want to know where your eyebrow should end. Do this by placing the eye pencil just on the side of your nose and angle it across the eye to the end of the eye; this is where your eyebrows should end.
Step #4: Connect The Pencil Dots
Now that the shape, arch and end of your brows have been established, next you will want to use a highlighter pencil to outline how you want your eyebrows to look. Only remove the hairs outside your outline and do not remove too much hair, as non-existent brows are not very sexy.
Step #5: Trim Those Brows
Now that you have plucked the excess hairs from under the arch and over the brow, you will want to give them a trim. This is done by taking an eyebrow brush and combing the brows in an upward motion, and then trimming away the excess using a small pair of scissors.
Step #6: Give Your Brows Some Definition
Even perfectly groomed brows can be enhanced by a little defining.
For thin, sparse brows you will need to add some pigment for added depth and fullness first. Next, using clear or tinted gel or wax, apply a thin coat to brow to provide both hold and shape. For the final touch, add some cream or highlighter powder to the area under the brow bone for a “lifted” effect.
If you happen to be blessed with full brows, a thin coat of wax or gel will tame the hairs and provide definition.
