Oily skin is the bane of many women, and when the heat and humidity of summer roll around, the problem only gets worse.

You can’t stop your skin from creating oil, but there are things you can do to keep it under control and keep your skin looking it’s absolute best even on the hottest of summer days.
1. Use The Right Products For Your Face

If hot summer weather causes your face to have an oily sheen, then you need to use products made for oily skin. Look for gentle facial scrubs, gel cleansers and moisturizers in oil-free formulas.
When you’re putting on makeup, use a mattifying gel or lotion first. You’ll want to apply it to the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) if you have combination skin, or all over if your face is really oily.
2. You Still Need To Moisturize
Women with oily skin often have the mistaken belief that moisturizing isn’t a necessity for them – but they couldn’t be more wrong. If you want to keep oil under control, you need to moisturize.
Cleansing products for oily skin tend to be very drying. And dry skin causes your oil producing glands to panic and shoot into overdrive in an attempt to rehydrate your skin. More oil is not what you want!
By using a light, oil-free moisturizer, you keep your skin hydrated and healthy, and prevent over production of oil.
3. Avoid Washing Your Face Too Often
When your skin is oily, it can be very tempting to wash often. But washing too frequently will just dry it out, and we’ve already talked about what happens when your skin gets dry.
But you don’t want oily shine, either – so what’s a woman to do?
Instead of washing over and over, invest in blotting paper – little tissues that absorb oil and remove it from your skin. Best of all – you can use them without disturbing your make-up!
