This is one of the most popular resolutions of all, which is demonstrative of just how much many people believe that losing weight can improve their lives. Losing weight in fact can often seem like the answer to all your problems, while for men it may be building and toning muscle that seems to offer that promise.
But the question is, is it really worth it? Is it really that easy? One of the reasons that many people try to get into shape is that they believe it will improve their chances with the opposite sex. This is true to an extent, but it is certainly not the be-all and end-all of your problems.
If you are currently very over weight, then the reality is that you will probably find it hard to attract a partner (especially if you are female). Thus losing weight and slimming down will certainly improve your chances, but on it’s own it still won’t be enough to guarantee you get lots of attention. And more to the point, if you aren’t overweight but instead just ‘not as thin as you’d like to be’, then you shouldn’t really expect the body transformation to make much difference at all. It’s likely not that which is causing the problem.
Far more important than your weight you see is your confidence and your ability to chat to members of the opposite sex. Improve your confidence to approach strangers and you’ll instantly be more attractive while also making more opportunities for yourself.

2. Self Esteem
Fortunately, getting into better shape is one of the things you can do to improve your self-esteem. Of course it won’t necessarily improve your ability to overcome shyness and to approach people out of the blue, but it will give you the kind of confident swagger that people notice and that makes you more attractive. It will also make you look better in your clothes too, which is likely to motivate you to improve your entire look.
Once you learn the repartee to go with this confidence and appearance, you’ll find that your love life does pick up.
Obviously dating isn’t the only source of self-esteem though. What you’ll also find is that people automatically treat you with more respect, that you perform better automatically in sports and other physical contests, and that you are more likely to win arguments as others will be less willing to anger you. If you ever become extremely muscular you’ll find that it’s a real power trip getting the respect of strangers in that way.

Most important though is the improvement that your fitness can have on your general lifestyle and your wellbeing.
The first thing you’re going to notice here is that you have more energy. Your heart and lungs will have an easier time getting oxygen and blood around your body, and you’ll thus be far more full of beans after a long day at work. You’ll feel less tired, less stressed and your mood will improve too. This can do wonders for your general ability to enjoy and appreciate life and is one of the most important reasons to get yourself into great shape.
At the same time you’ll also find that other things improve about your health. Any aches in your spine or knees will disappear, you’ll be less likely to get ill, and you’ll improve your lifespan. Of course it’s important that you find a natural way to lose weight, otherwise you might find that the results are only temporary and that you create new health problems.
Ultimately then, losing weight will give you more energy, more confidence and a better look. It won’t transform every aspect of your life and solve all your problems, but it will give you all the tools you need to go ahead and start accomplishing that yourself.
