1. Use Lip Balm As A First Coat
Before you apply lip gloss, put on a light application of a lip balm like Chapstick. It will fill in the little cracks, so gloss goes on more smoothly and sets more effectively.
If you want stronger color, you can get the same benefits by applying a light coat of lipstick in the same color as your gloss.

2. Color That Lasts Starts By Layering
For super long lasting color that stays put, you’ll want to outline your lips with a lip pencil that matches the color of your lips. It creates a bit of a seal that keeps color from bleeding out and feathering into the fine lines around your mouth.

3. Choose A Color That Matches The Color Of Your Lips
For the natural look, you want to go with a color that closely matches the natural tone of your lips. Avoid putting a dark shade on light lips or light shades on dark lips.
Use a lip brush to evenly apply a light layer of gloss. Avoid using your fingers, as the oils from your skin can affect the color of the gloss.
4. Remove Excess Gloss From Outside The Lip Line
When you finish applying the gloss, use a cotton swab to remove any that may have strayed “outside the lines”; this will help give you that perfect “not made-up” look, and will help prevent smears.
5. Don’t Over Apply
Lip gloss is a great way to make lips look fuller, but it doesn’t take a lot of gloss to make it work. Over-application is one of the top mistakes women make with gloss.
All it takes is a thin layer of gloss to make lips look full and shiny – and if you follow our steps above, it’s a look that will last for hours!
