1. Plenty Of Rest
Normally 8 hours of sleep is plenty for an adult but if a sore throat sets in you need to give your body a little more time in bed to recuperate. Aim for an extra 2 or 3 hours of rest a day.

2. Give Your Throat A Steam Bath
If your sore throat is one of the symptoms of a cold or flu and you need a way to clear your nasal passages, then you could try breathing in a bit of steam. Studies have indicated that steam can help to cure a sore throat more quickly than if left to its own devices.
The simplest method for steam inhalation is to take a hot bath, but a bowl of hot water will do just as well. To collect more steam for breathing in, place a towel over your head to make a tent.

3. Drink More Fluids
A moisturized sore throat presents less severe symptoms than a dry one so make sure you are keeping your fluid intake up. Fluids will provide some relief for the sore throat and at the same time help flush away some of the nasty bacteria helping to cause it.
Hot tea or coffee can reduce the inflammation – plus they can also just feel somewhat soothing on a sore throat. Many people have also used lemonade and citrus drinks such as lemon, lime, or orange mixed with a little honey to help soothe a sore throat.
4. Chicken Soup
Everyone enjoys a bit of chicken soup when they’re feeling poorly but it’s actually more than just the taste that makes it beneficial.
Studies have indicated that the combination of chicken and vegetables helps to alleviate the upper respiratory symptoms caused by colds and flus – which also include sore throats.
5. Juice Bars
A hot burning throat will get plenty of relief from an icy cold juice bar. Best results are achieved if you let small pieces melt in your mouth rather than sucking – as sucking may cause more irritation.
6. Gargling With Listerine
Not only does the cooling effect of Listerine alone provides some relief from the pain, but its anti-bacterial properties also help to speed up recovery.

7. Gargling With Warm Salt Water
A standard 8-ounce glass of water mixed with 1 teaspoon of salt also makes an effective gargling solution for sore throats. The salt in the water helps to drain excess fluid away from the inflamed areas of the throat, thus reducing the pain caused by the swelling.
