Menstruation is a biological process which is a part of the monthly menstrual cycle of a woman. During this time, blood and tissues are discharged through the vagina and this phenomenon is called a “period” or a “menstrual period”. Female menstrual cycle starts when they reach puberty and a regular or irregular cycle will affect a women’s fertility.
The primary indication or sign of menstruation or period is bleeding from the vagina. Other signs include cramps, bloat, food cravings, sore breasts, headache, and fatigue, all of which are commonly known as PMS, or pre-menstrual syndrome.
This syndrome generally occurs one or two weeks before menstruation and affects females of all ages and may sometimes result in depression and mood swings in women.
