3. Brassica Vegetables Family
In a large study done, results (non-conclusive) have suggested that individuals who incorporated more Brassica vegetables into their diet had their risk of contracting neurological disorders, as well as cardiovascular diseases lowered.
Not only that, the study has also found that Brassica vegetables can also help to reduce the effects of aging.
Kale, cabbage, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower and mustard are examples of Brassica vegetables.
Most mushrooms, whether is it inexpensive button mushrooms or the more exotic mushrooms like Reishi, Maitake, and Shitake, can help to prevent cancer due to their immune boosting properties.
According to studies done, Maitake mushrooms can help reduce your body’s blood sugar levels, and hence reduce your risk of cancer. Also, it has been found that Reishi mushrooms can help to inhibit the growth of malignant tumors.
One thing to note, however, is that if you are going to eat mushrooms, it is advisable that you eat only organic mushrooms, as non-organic mushrooms often have high pesticide levels.
5. Hot Peppers
Known as fat-busters, hot peppers contain capsaicin. And because capsaicin is an appetite suppressant, your calorie intake is naturally reduced. This leads to a higher metabolism, which in turn burns extra calories (allowing you to drop some pounds as well).
Also, studies have shown that capsaicin can help to slow down the rate of tumor growth.
Rich in alpha-carotene, as well as beta-carotene, pumpkin is a superfood that you can eat to help reduce the risk of contracting lung, as well as ovarian cancer.

Studies have shown that the risk of certain cancers like skin and prostate cancer, cervical, lung, bladder and stomach cancers are lowered when you have a diet rich in tomatoes.
Some other fruits that have Lycopene in them include pink grapefruit, watermelon, apricots, papaya and guava. However, the highest concentrations of Lycopene are found in tomatoes.
Although there is no concrete evidence that eating an apple every day will keep you from getting cancer, it can help to significantly reduce your risks.
Quercetin found in apple may help to lower your risk of lung cancer, as well as slow down the growth rate of prostate cancer cells. Plus, there’s also evidence that pectin, along with other antioxidants (found in an apple), may halt the replication of both liver and colon cancer cells.
Spinach is helpful in warding off prostate, colon, ovarian, and liver cancers.
The powerful antioxidants along with vitamin E and Lutein, which are found in abundance in those beautiful green leaves of spinach, make this vegetable a must for your diet.
Bromelain is the key enzyme found in pineapples. It is believed that this enzyme is responsible for reducing the growth of malignant cells in breast cancer and lung cancer.
As a bonus, eating pineapples can help speed up your digestion. It can also be used to treat sore throat, gout, and arthritis.
