1. Do Not Shampoo Daily

By washing your hair every day, you not only wash away all the natural oils but you also allow your hair to get dry and brittle and develop split ends. That is why most beauty consultants advise you to only wash your hair every two or three days; unless you have very oily hair.
2. Never Towel-Dry Your Hair in a Rushed, Rough Manner
A lot of people take showers or baths in the morning before going to work, which is a time when you are rushed anyway. Doing this will only damage your hair and does not speed up drying time; it could also give you a bad hair day.
The first solution is to start earlier getting ready for work or for your date but if still in a hurry, try spritzing detangling spray over your entire head and then squeezing out as much excess water as possible with an absorbent towel.
3. Never Comb Your Hair From Roots To Ends
Never comb your hair from the roots to the ends, especially if you have long hair, as the tangles will only get worse the farther down you go and will cause damage and split ends. Always start with the ends and work your way up to the scalp.
Also, your hair is at its weakest when it is wet, so never use a brush but always use a comb.
4. Never Brush Your Hair For Shine
Back in the day, women use to brush their hair 100 strokes per day but this can only cause excess friction, which also causes breakage and other damage. It only takes a few strokes to style, and distribute the oils throughout your hair; anything more is too much.
5. Using The Wrong Hairbrush
Using the wrong hairbrush leads to damaged hair so make sure you have the “right tool for the right job” before brushing your hair.
Normally, long full hair requires a large brush with teeth that are farther apart whereas, short or thin hair requires a smaller brush with close teeth. If you want to add volume, use a round brush and for a smooth look, use a paddle shaped brush.
6. Not Using Any Heat-Protective Styling Aid
Most women use a blow dryer, some also use either a flat iron or curling iron to style their hair.
In either case you should be using a heat protective styling aid to protect your hair from the heat. The reasons are that using heat producing tools cause breakage and can also burn your hair making it look dry and brittle.
7. Do Not Ignore Your Scalp
A healthy scalp equals healthy hair, so give yourself a head massage to stimulate blood flow and use a leave-in scalp treatment.
