Myth #3: Women with small breasts are less likely to get breast cancer.
The Real Facts: There is absolutely no link between the size of a woman’s breasts and the risk of you catching breast cancer.
The only issue is that larger breasts can be harder for a physician to examine than smaller ones, as clinical breast examinations along with mammograms & MRI scans are more difficult for those with larger breasts.
Just remember that all women, regardless of the size of their breasts, must have routine breast screens & checkups on an annual basis.
Myth #4: Mammograms help to prevent or reduce the risk of breast cancer.
The Real Facts: Unfortunately there isn’t any breast screening tests that currently prevents breast cancer from occurring.
It is currently believed that mammograms and breast self-examination are the best methods of helping to identify the disease at the earliest stage possible, thus ensuring the earliest possible treatment.
Myth #5: If you take birth control pills it increases the risk of getting breast cancer.
The Real Facts: Medical surveys have shown women who use oral contraceptives have no increased risk at all of getting breast cancer.

The Real Facts: The latest medical research indicates that if you have chosen to have breast implants, then you are no more at risk of getting breast cancer than anyone else.
However, normal mammograms do not work as effectively if you have had breast implants, and you may need to have X-rays in order to fully check your breasts for signs of breast cancer.
Myth #7: The risk of breast cancer increases if you’re under stress.
The Real Facts: Do you get stressed easily? Well, don’t worry if you do, as so far there is no evidence to suggest that stress increases the chances of having breast cancer at all.
Myth #8: Your diet can affect the risk of getting it.
The Real Facts: If you are a pre-menopausal woman, plus if you are overweight, then there’s an increased chance of you having breast cancer. But contrary to rumors, there is no magic diet to follow to prevent breast cancer.
Whilst diets containing large amounts of fruit and vegetables can help decrease the risk of contracting certain cancers, the findings in relation to diets and breast cancer are not as clear.
Sticking to a good diet does help with your general health, as it’s widely known that having a healthy & varied diet does decrease the risk of getting other chronic diseases, and in addition a good diet helps you keep a healthy body weight.
