Your Pre-Workout Menu
Prior to going to the gym, it is very important to notice what and how much you are eating. The “fuel” you need to work out will be stuck in your digestive system if you don’t allow your food to properly digest first. Since providing energy is the primary objective of food, it’s essential that it’s readily available for your muscles to use.
Furthermore, how efficient will your workout be if your stomach feels like you’re stuffed to the max? This could result in severe cramping and/or laziness. Therefore, pick only the foods that are easily digestible that do not produce irritation or bloating in your stomach.
A good selection of key foods to eat before working out includes whole grain cereal with soy or skim milk along with a small banana. Ideally, you should wait for a minimum of at least an hour prior to performing your exercise regimen.

Water Is Essential Before, During, And After Your Workout
Water is the lifeline to keeping your body hydrated at any time. However, it’s especially important prior to, during, and after a workout.
If you plan to exercise for one hour or less in a temperature-controlled facility, then drinking plain water is sufficient. However, if you are working out for longer than an hour and you’re sweating profusely, consume a sports drink (such as an isotonic drink) instead of just regular water so you can replace the lost electrolytes from excess sweat.

Post Workout Meal
When you are done working out, try to consume a ‘recuperation’ meal within a half hour if you can. Exercise puts a lot of friction on your bones, muscles and joints in addition to expending a good amount of nutritious substances while exercising. Therefore, it’s crucial that you replenish the essential vitamins and nutrients you lost to adequately heal and repair your tissues.
After your work out session, your body needs more than just protein. It requires whole grains, complex carbs, good sources of fat, fresh water, as well as protein. They all do their part to help restore the body to its natural state of well-being.
A good dish to eat after working out is stir-fry chicken since it essentially contains nearly all the body’s required vitamins and minerals to replace what was lost (during the workout).
